Technical committee activities

The Technical Committee is responsible for providing support and oversight at the national level for SM studies and, beginning in 2011 (OPCM 4007/12), for the Analysis of the Emergency Limit Condition (CLE). The Committee meets periodically upon convocation by its President (Director of the seismic and volcanic risk unit)
The Committee is responsible for:
- carrying out the procedures for validating seismic microzonation studies and CLE analyses, by preparing preliminary reviews of the studies submitted by the Regions, verifying compliance with the Guidelines and Criteria for Seismic Microzonation Studies (ICMS) and the standards for representation and digital archiving (SM and CLE), thereby enabling the Regions to issue certificates of compliance and final approval of the studies
- collecting and coordinating observations, comments, suggestions, and requests submitted by the Regions, local authorities, and implementing entities regarding technical and procedural aspects related to SM studies and CLE analysis
- drafting contributions, recommendations, and documents to be submitted for approval by the Regions and autonomous provinces, to improve study activities for the seismic characterization of the territory aimed at proper planning.
